The Legends of Sleeping Giant and our last stop in Canada for this season 2014
Nanabosho, who is the giant in the photo behind Pat and the son of Kabeyun, the west wind, is also called the Sleeping Giant and the last Provincial Park where we are camping in Canada.  There are many Ojibwe legends about the Sleeping Giant. I will research them later, and rewrite the stories and make at least one coloring page for UUFSB’ RE, Matt and Mary’s kids.
In the meantime for those of you keeping up, there is this family of Ontarians beside us camping.  The mother looks like an angel and the daughter (s) are also so fair, but they must be really seals or northern mermaids because they are swimming in this cold water and the air temp is only 64 degrees inside our RV.  (And probably also the reason why we are again swatting mosquitoes.) We are still wearing our Hobbs Farm sweat shirts. Which reminds me, Thanks to all Maria Kata and others who harvested and cooked for the Port Jeff Soup Kitchen this past Saturday.  You are also angels!
The docent (Amy) at the gate is another one after my own heart, she rates each campsite and has a book of them. And now to talk about all the wonderful “Youth” of the Provincial Parks.  They have been excellent and so helpful. Most are summer college students but some are naturalists and they know so much, so much more than I did at their age. They are passionate about what they do and so it gives me more hope.
On the RV note, the Proud Mary’s back up camera stopped working.  I have been the back-up camera for Paddy and not to brag, but I am doing an A+ job.  Paddy says he may have me trained by the end of summer. We will be back in the USA in Minn. at Cascade River by the end of today, July 14.

  1. Have to get the hang of this posting thing as I just lost the first one I wrote. So - I'm catching up on your sojourn and loving the stories and the pictures. I am so happy that you are doing this and sharing it with me and others. We head to Michigan on Saturday and I am looking forward to the peace of the Lake Michigan shore. Here on LI I am working with Margie and Alexis and Earthkeepers to organize a big UU attendance at the People's Climate March on 9/21. Also working with colleagues at Adelphi to get AU there as well. It is good work. I will miss you on 9/21, but I know that you will find a place in which to be in solidarity. Love and giant hugs to you both! Deb
