Flaming Gorge Wildflowers Beautiful

The Flaming Gorge Red Canyon Area was a very spiritual place, aspen and conifer forests high up and desert lower  and layer after layer of geological history from Permian time to Cretaceous. The sun shining on the walls of the Gorge made it look like it was on fire. The high meadows were filled with wildflowers. the river and creeks flowing fast.  Weather almost perfect. Next time we will start in Gorge and end up at Dinosaur National Monument.  We did not get to do all the Butch Cassidy and outlaws things or raft the Green River but that is on the list for the future.  We did get to kayak.  One thing in Vernal, Utah, the State Park has a museum called the Field House of Natural History which takes you through all those geological layers with examples of all the fossils finds. They have a Dinosaur Garden with life size models. They teach you by interactive displays how to be a paleontologist and you can watch paleontologists at work. They also have Native American artifacts and "glow-in-the dark rock display.
Utah is our second favorite state now to Oregon.

Proud Mary among the Cacti, Sagebrush and Cedars.  We saw lots of pronghorn antelope and mule deer.

The thistle was as tall as me in some areas. And Because it had been raining in June the areas were very green. The farmers and ranchers were happy.
